We welcomed Jonny Tyers of Threatplane to the West Midlands Cyber Hub for what was possibly our most engaging session yet. Jonny walked the group through his comprehensive threat modeling methodology, breaking down complex frameworks into practical, actionable strategies for securing modern environments. It was an incredibly interactive session that sparked brilliant technical questions and insights from the room.

The event was hosted once again by Wayne Horkan and Andy Horkan, who ensured the entire evening ran smoothly and welcomingly. Their ongoing support continues to be foundational in making these regular Birmingham meetups a success for the local security community.

The evening concluded with our standard open networking session, giving professionals from across the Midlands a chance to connect and discuss the night’s topics

We were hosted by Wayne Horkan and Andy Horkan at the West Midlands Cyber Hub, and the evening also provided a great opportunity to celebrate Andy’s birthday with the group. Pizza and refreshments for the night were generously sponsored by Alvearium Associates Limited, keeping everyone fuelled throughout the evening’s discussions and networking sessions.

That was followed by a chance for security professionals from across the Midlands to connect, catch up, and share ideas.

We welcomed Enrico Faccioli CEO and founder of Vishr.ai. Enrico spoke about the rise of voice phishing or vishing, the ease that voices can be cloned and used for malicious purposes and the sophistication of the tools available. Even free open source tools can scrape and clone data with ease. It was a fascinating walk through Enricos research into vishing and a warning for the future of social engineering attacks.
